THE DARK KNIGHT RISES MOVIE PREMIERE!

Just got home from the movie premiere of The Dark Knight Rises!

My lovely friend Mei had bagged some awesome regional movie premiere tickets at Odeon IMAX. 

No, we didn't get to see the stars live at Leicester Square, but we did see them close up on the live streaming for an hour before the movie started! Without the trouble of getting soaked under the rain and squashed in the massive crowd...

We sat at the centre of the top back row - best view in our opinion.

Mei also came prepared with food and snacks, I should really learn to be more organized in future!

It has been TOO long since I stepped into a cinema, and this trip back has made me want to frequent it more in future.

I've never really read much comic books but did flip through some of my brother's when I was young!

Some parts really threw me off which added to the suspense - loved it.

I'm not going to start blabbing about the storyline and spoil the fun of it, but what I will say is that the movie is definitely worth the watch!

EMIRATES AIR LINE, SHOREDITCH, & MISSING FOOD!

I am currently cooling off with my tiny tub of Haagen-Daz Secret Sensations creme brulee - my twin pack has obviously been intruded upon leaving a single lone tub in the freezer, I have a feeling I know who has eaten it...again.

I'm really not one to get too bothered about people eating my food as long as they ask for my permission.

List of missing food items to date:

1. can of sweetcorn

2. pack of yoghurt

3. 1L carton of juice

4. half a bottle of rose wine

5. mini tub of Haagen-daz Secret Sensations

...do people not know/remember what they bought?...or probably just being plain ignorant.

I don't really feel like voicing out my annoyance just in case I sound too petty, so I've decided I'm going to start taking some desperate measures...by putting my name on them (!) there is after all no excuse for illiteracy - this is even worse than house/flat-sharing in university.

Ranting aside...today I went to try out the Emirates Air Line (also known as the Thames Cable Car) which opened just over a couple of weeks ago. It runs between the two new terminals Emirates Greenwich Peninsula by the O2 and Emirates Royal Docks.

The fare was £4.30 single-way and the journey lasted 5 minutes, or probably less which was much quicker than we expected! We were busy snapping pictures and before we knew it we were landing.

You can either purchase a ticket there and then...or be a street-wise, true Londoner, and make sure you have enough credit on your Oyster card so you can skip the unnecessary queues for the ticket counters like we did!

We had lunch at O2 Arena Slug & Lettuce as the half-price offer was on til 3pm - yes always looking for a bargain! We both shared the Fisherman's Platter and a bottle of Rekorderlig cider. That sharing platter was definitely enough to have as a main meal for two!

Next stop - Shoreditch.
Has a browse around Brick Lane and the markets - I just LOVE the atmosphere here, it's one of my favourite hang-out places. I don't think my dressing would ever reach their level of...'cool-ness'...if such a word exists, but hey, it's all fun and games!

I was still kind of full from lunch, but was tempted by a nice slice of carrot cake from this little stall at Old Spitalfields Market, served by a friendly young man ;)

And as always the shopaholic in me has an eye for pretty things...like this cute lace dress and gold bangle to add to my collection!

There wasn't a changing room available so we both were just pulling the clothes over ours in a corner of the stall. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a man was smiling/staring at me trying on the dress - I wasn't sure if it was because the dress looked pretty on me or if it was a look of amusement...I'll just assume that it was because of the former ha!
And we had the comfort of a 'portable' mirror a.k.a. the salesgirl who was trying to multitask balancing my clothes and holding the mirror steady for us!

I'm going to get back to my final book of the Fifty Shades trilogy - I WILL finish reading this...eventually.

I've got a date tonight - with a glass (or two) of rose wine...

HELLO WEEKEND!

Yes, my favourite time of the week is here again! After my most dreaded workshift of the week...having to work til late whilst everyone is out having drinks on a Friday night is just rubbish...

At least Friday the 13th is over! Not that I'm that superstitious...

And another perk today - payday (yay!). Could this weekend get any better...I hope so.

Since moving to London I find that my lifestyle has had a few changes.

1. I am sleeping much later than my usual 10am bedtime

2. I survive on 5 hours of sleep on weekdays and still seem to have enough energy to drag myself to gym

3. I am blogging past midnight...whilst drinking wine (!) - I think my landlady's drinking habits are starting to rub off on me...I'm kidding, she's lovely really!

And just to make things clear - no I am NOT an alcoholic...I am just starting to indulge in the 'finer' things in life ha!

This obviously does not fit anywhere in my daily healthy eating plan...but my inner goddess tells me otherwise - a girl's got to indulge every once in while. 

Oh dear I really am reading too much of this Fifty Shades trilogy.

Looks like the weather is going to be pretty dreadful in London tomorrow - thank god my new umbrellas from eBay have arrived! Yes umbrella with an 's' - plural - I think I need a back-up just in case I get ambushed by torrential rain like the last time! 

I better head to bed soon - half a bottle gone already - oops? ha.

MID-WEEK POST BLUES

Apologies for the lack of content on my blog page recently! I think I've been too busy having my nose stuck in the Fifty Shades trilogy - I've finished the second book now! One more book to go...

The books are literally FLYING off the shelves everyday - more curious minds like me wanting a taste of some erotic literature I suppose...

My passion for the piano has also been re-ignited! After years of living without a piano I now have one available to play in the comfort of my home - well not exactly 'my' home...more like my landlady's, but it's home for now anyways.

From the look and sound of it, it has been rather neglected throughout the years - so one day I just decided to bring some life back into it!

There's a few songs that I remember that I can still 'miraculously' play by heart - it must have been 10 years or more since I first played them! 

It's amazing how music stays connected to your soul.
I love the feeling of just getting lost in the music and live in my moments of contentment.

 

I'm currently working on the soundtrack from The Piano - unfortunately due to my bad sight-reading skills, it is taking longer than usual to master it! I will probably do an 'amateur' recording in a week...or most likely a month ha...

BAD news is my flute and violin are now the neglected ones...if only there were more hours in a day...

Which reminds me I better start hunting for music tutors in London again. If anyone knows anyone personally in London that they would recommend please do give me a heads up!

I do miss my previous tutors Hazel and Iveta back in Leeds.

C'est la vie.

To end on a brighter note, we're halfway through the week! I seriously find it hard to understand how half a year has already gone by, it doesn't even feel like summer in the UK. Yes, it feels like we have been robbed off our summer...let's see what July/August brings...

2 more days of work and I-can't-care-any-less-of-how-I-look-at-work clothes...can't wait for the weekend x

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY & SATURDAY DAY-OUT

Ok, I have been MIA for a few days now. Just recently I've got back in reading books - starting off with Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, after all this 'hype' about it in the news/internet. 

 
According to The Guardian, E L James has apparently now sold over 4 million copies fo her Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy via her UK publisher, Random House, adding to the 15 million that have been shifted in the US and Canada. That's a LOT of woman/ladies/young girls(???)/men (???) left with some pretty raunchy sex scenes on their mind now ay! ... 

It has been a LONG time since I picked up a book which had some element of sex in it - I vaguely remember reading a couple of books when I was younger - cowboys and peasant girls, knights in shining armours and damsels in distress ... I shall skip delving into all the x-rated detail!
Don't play miss/mr innocent now you guys ... somewhere along the line you all have had a sneaky peak into one of them!

To be honest when I first picked up the book and started reading it I did find the first few scenes rather ... intriguing (?) 

But as I read on I found a few of the repetitions rather annoying e.g.

1. Anastasia's constant lip biting

2. Christian's rollercoaster mood-swings (and they call us women hormonal!)

3. This constant obsession with making-out in the elevator (!)

And seriously ... is it even possible to orgasm that easily (?!) Anastasia must have been truly deprived pre-deflowering ...
And doesn't this so-called multi-billionaire ever go to work?!

I suppose everyone has their opinions and every publication is bound to get its share of praise and mockery. 

Thrashing aside, I DID enjoy certain aspects of the book - mainly my mental visualization of the dashing Christian Grey! ... before my bubble got popped by the the rumours/speculation about potential actors/actresses for the upcoming film - Ryan Gosling (! - not dreamy enough), Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart ... oh-puhleaseee ... haven't we had enough of this Twilight fever ...

I do think that Ian Somerhalder does have that charming look with just a touch of evil in his eyes! Yes ... definitely Christian Grey potential.
No comment about potential Anastasia.

ANYWAY, whoever ends up playing the part better be good - and maybe better as an 18-rated film to make it more gutsy and in-your-face action!

I've got the two more books in the trilogy that I'm going to read through just to have a 'wholesome' view on this trilogy ... they better be worth the read.
It's nice to fantasize sometimes, but I wish there was more substance in this book.


And as for my day ... dropped by the Designer Sample sale at Chelsea Town Hall - absolute let-down ... so we treated outselves to some pretty Amorino ice-cream (no pictures, too famished and gobbled it up).

Had my first taste of raw oysters at the market! After years of feeling a bit nauseated about the texture and being too chicken to try it ...

And the nice man even gave an extra free oyster after that!

Looks like I have a pretty relaxing weekend this week. Going to get my nose back into that book!

DAY OUT: OLD SPITALFIELDS MARKET & SUNDAY UPMARKET, BRICK LANE

Today I am dressed head to toe (or rather 'ankle'?) in my new Zara gear - once again rocking my denim shirt, 2 days in a  row. Got my New Look boots on because BBC weather said it would rain! Best to be prepared.

On the tube I sat next to a rather cute guy - I'm not quite sure what I found more attractive, the geeky glasses and the stubble...or the fact that he was wearing green trousers with a navy blue jumper pulled over a purple polo T-shirt...
I tried hard not to stare...shame I didn't take a photo to post lol.

Spent the day out at Old Spitalfields Market and Sunday Upmarket, Brick Lane - where all the trendy people hang out ha! Took a while to get my bearings right as I'd been there only once before in the past. 

For lunch, I went for the salad bowl with falafel, whilst Nelson chose some Lithuanian dish.

Came across this Malaysian Pancake stall, looked like Penang 'ban zhang kuih'...then again they had a rather 'intriguing' list of fillings - not quite the typical traditional one you get back home.
