BFF'S REUNITED: CANADA DAY 7+8

Day trip to Toronto - woohoo!

We took a bus to Toronto and had the lovely Sarah as our tour guide for the day!

First stop was CN Tower. The entry fee was quite pricey so we just took some photos from outside - I'm pretty sure that it can't have been any better than the view form Skylon anyway.

 

 

 Hungry as always, we went to Spring Sushi - my happy place!

Once again made multiple orders of my favourite dishes.

 

Japanese buffet mmm...I just can't get enough of it!

We then went to get some bubbletea - Chatime Toronto, another one of my happy places!

And then had a walk down Chinatown and the University of Toronto campus...

 

We had dinner at one of Harpreet's favourite Indian restaurant before heading back home on the bus. Goodbye civilization, and back to the countryside, teehee.

The next day, we drove to Kitchener to meet up with Shiv.

First stop was St Jacobs Farmers Market, where I had my first taste of THE awesome apple fritters from The Fritter Co... 

There was even a long queue for it, so it must be good!

For lunch, we rushed to devour our burgers at The Works as we were running short of time before our kayaking appointment!
But as you can see from the menu, they have a huge list of different options to choose from...
They also served water in quirky measuring jugs - I like.

Kamikaze!

We had a good time kayaking at Canoeing the Grand, renting individual kayaks for our 2.5hour adventure.
The last time I tried kayaking was probably during my national service days, which I don't think counted as it was only in a small lake. This time I actually kayaked along a proper river which was really fun, and the weather was much hotter than I expected - it was only in the shower that I noticed the tan lines on my legs!
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures as I didn't want to risk dropping anything in the river, but it was a great experience.

As Harpreet had plans that evening, her super sweet mum brought me out for dinner and some shopping! And we ended the day with a naughty little treat of Ben & Jerry's.

WEEKEND SUMMARY: PATTY & BUN + PRINCI

Spring is finally here! - or at least it seems to feel like it this weekend.

Sunny weather calls for impulsive acts, such as indulging in sinful, greasy burgers at Patty & Bun!

 

We arrived nice and early before the crowd arrived - second in line, we did well.

 As the doors opened at 12noon, the tables were filled within 15 minutes, with maybe a couple of single seats left at the back. 

The tables around us started placing their orders, so we grabbed (or rather politely signaled) one of the waitresses to place ours. 

I ordered the 'ARI GOLD' Cheeseburger whilst Lili ordered the 'Lambshank Redemption' burger.  I loved my juicy burger, nice and pink in the centre, though I did have to use about 3 napkins to clean up the mess that I had made after! Probably not the ideal place to bring a first date...

The lightly glazed brioche bun held the burger together really well and complemented the flavours.

We also shared a side of 'Winger Winger Chicken Dinner' - smoked confit wings with BBQ sauce and spring onions - absolutely.to.die.for.

The total cost us about £12.50 per person which was reasonable. There's a whole lot of competition amongst burger joints around London, but this has got to be the best burger I've had so far! Service was really quick and efficient as well.

I'm pretty sure I could have (lady)handled another...but I needed to save some space for some Chatime!

Our wait at Chatime was even longer than usual - a half hour wait...the things we Asians do for some bubbletea ay?

My shoes were starting to hurt me, but I managed to find some awesome Converse shoes in the sale at House of Fraser. I also convinced and coaxed Lili into getting herself a pair - me and my persuasive skills ha.

 We then headed on to Trafalgar Square to observe the feathery remains from World Pillow Fight Day. 

 

 

In the evening, we had dinner at Princi on Wardour Street - ordered a Coppa and Valerio to share.

 

 

So ends yet another indulgent girls day out - I always enjoy our impromptu/unplanned adventures. 
How many calories you ask? - too many, but who's counting. 

There's always the gym next week!

SUMMARY OF MY FIRST WEEK BACK IN LONDON

So I've survived my first week back at work after coming back from Malaysia. Unfortunately I did suffer from a slight bout of jet-lag and felt like a walking zombie at work on Tuesday. 

Just a quick summary of my week...

1. I went to the Icebar off Regent Street for a quick sneak peek - 14 pounds per entry, which is pretty expensive, but I wasn't paying anyway ha...

They usually change the theme every now and then, the current one was Galactic Frontiers...

 

 

 2. Unfortunately got sucked into doing the Ripley's Believe It Or Not tour... I knew this day would come! Not very impressed to be honest, and at 27 pounds...jeez...

Might as well take some photos!

3. I won a pair of tickets to Monkey Shoulder's One Night Only! And luckily Dora was free to accompany me on that day. It was held at an old factory which had been turned into a bar for the night. It was like a night at the races and we each were given a jersey - mine was clearly too large but it kept me warm and snug!

Our tickets entitled us to 3 drinks each and a pulled pork burger - I wish it was the other way round!

We sipped away on our drinks, munched on our burgers, whilst sitting on hay stacks...it just doesn't get any cooler than this ha.

 

 

 

 

4. I had a lovely day out with Lili on Saturday - sweet Lili treated me to some lovely cakes at Bakery County Hall.

And later on hunted for a place for lunch, where we ended up at Le Garrick - Covent Garden's best kept secret (according to the business card!) 

 It was nice and cosy inside, and the waitress who served us was really nice - a nice hideaway from the horrible snow outside. 

We both ordered the 2-course set lunch - I was happy as long as I had my onion soup :)

 

There were actually some good sales going on this weekend. Never actually bought anything from Banana Republic in the past, I got tempted by the extra 25% off sale prices and got myself a stripey jacket and white top.

You can't say no to staple pieces...

And to end the day...Chatime!

So another weekend is over...

MARCH HOLIDAY: DAY 13, PENANG

Day 12 has been skipped because I spent more than half of it preparing the posts on my trip to Siem Reap...

So, moving on to Day 13 which was my 26th birthday!

I spent most of the day having quality father-daughter time. 

For lunch, we went to dad's friends shop on Campbell Street, that he's been bringing us to since we were little.

I was his little princess for the day (actually, I'm his little princess everyday, but today I just felt extra special hehe) and he ordered everything that I liked to eat!

My theory is that calories don't count on your birthday, so I'm sticking to that!

Dad then brought me to Prangin Mall to get my manicure and pedicure done. I tried out this place called SuiSui Nail Studio. Whilst the girls were busy attending to my distraught-looking nails, I just sat back in my comfy chair and watched the movie playing on the screen.

The original price quoted was RM68 but because it was my birthday month I received 30% off my manicure so it only totaled up to RM60 - (unexpected) bargain!

In the evening I had dinner with the family at Captain's Restaurant at Penang Swimming Club.
