I met up with a girlfriend today to catch up and go on our usual foodie adventure!
After doing some online research, as I so usually do (got to keep an eagle eye out for poorly reviewed restaurants!), I decided on Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street.
Galvin Bistrot de Luxe was the original restaurant opened by the Michelin-starred Galvin brothers, and the restaurant has won several prestigious awards.

Being our usual hungry selves we turned up for lunch at 12noon when it just opened - we were actually 20 minutes too early before and had a little wander around, targeting more restaurants to try out next time.

On entering the restaurant, we were promptly seated and our orders taken not long after. The menu offers a wide range of dishes with a strong French influence, but being a couple of undecided customers, we both chose to have the Sunday lunch 3 course selection.
The first course was smoked salmon served with a slice of bread - very lightly dressed, fresh and appetizing.
The slices of beef in the main course was nicely cooked and pink in the centre so it was really tender and juicy, just the way I like it. I liked the potatoes that were crisp on the outside but soft and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside - mmm...
And for our dessert we were served Apple tart tartin with ice cream.
The timing between the courses were well-spaced and the waitress was very polite and attentive.
Our meal cost just below 70 pounds, which I think is pretty affordable for good quality food. I've spotted some selections from the menu that I'd like to try so I'll probably be back again soon!

Me - the foodie lover!

Leaving the place with satisfied tummies, we headed off to town to do some shopping, or in my case some window-shopping!
I actually made a trip to Primark on Tottenham Court Road the day before and got myself some bargains and essentials...but let's just pretend you didn't know that and presume that I've been behaving myself this weekend!

Pretty walls outside some hotel x

I was hunting around Chinatown for some mooncakes having realized that it was the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節; pinyin: zhōngqiū jié) also known as Moon Festival or Lantern Festival. But the crowds just really put me off so I came home empty-handed, but fret not - mum and dad back home have already been 'given orders' to send some by Airmail from Malaysia! How I do love them x
Unfortunately no lanterns again this year, but I'm pretty sure dad has lit some back home on my behalf which he has been doing since we were kids - ah the good 'ol days x

For dinner we tried out Manchurian Legends in Chinatown. We ordered a few dishes to share as we weren't quite that hungry after that filling lunch we had.

Shredded potatoes with spicy sauce
Braised pork with glass noodles

The food was good, but I think certain bits were a bit overpriced. I don't really think the Chilli Lamb Skewers that was awarded one of London's Best 100 dishes 2012 by TimeOut is anything worth raving about - I found it a bit tough and the spices still a bit too powdery and flaking off the meat.

So, it's the end of another weekend again.
Hope everyone else had some delicious food during the weekend as well!

And before I forget, here's a reminder that The Knot film opens in UK cinemas in 5 days time on 5th October!
Missing bridesmaids and naked groomsmen - what's not to love!

...Rewinding back a few hours to Wednesday...!

Once again I have been lucky enough to win another online competition - this time thanks to Millie's cookies I won a pair of tickets for a private screening of The Knot!
I knew subscribing to these newsletters would come to use someday!

Today was one of my early-finish work days, so I had time to pop home to freshen up an change...

Jumper: H&M / Skirt: Forever 21 / Boots: Mexx (T.k.maxx) / Accessories: Forever 21 & something borrowed ;)

The private screening was at The Soho Screening Rooms, arriving at 6pm for some drinks before the show.
Noel Clarke, Jason Maza, and the producer (didn't quite catch his name!) were also present at the event.

It's a short and sweet Rom-Com - if you like films like Bridemaids, this would probably be your cup of tea (or coffee?).

Stayed on for a bit after the film to snap some photos!

Sweet goodies from this evening's events...

Cute cupcakes from the screening event & a pretty goody box from the Swarovski event x

On the whole a nice relaxing evening to brighten up my dull day at work...
I'd really like to watch The Perks of Being A Wallflower next, which premiered tonight.

The Knot is due to be released in the UK on 5th October 2012.

Short outfit post before I make my way to work. Thankfully the sun is shining outside today so I won't turn up like a wet bunny at work.

I think I look a bit of a schoolgirl today... - I don't tend to accessorize when I'm at work to maintain my 'professional' pharmacist look ha x

Blouse: Zara / Skirt: Topshop / Blazer: New Look / Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Yes, I've even got my nerd-mode glasses on! hide my tired eyes especially when I'm doing awful night shifts.

I've just cancelled my current gym membership at Nuffield Health - mainly because I don't think I was getting my money's worth of 67 pounds/month.
I prefer somewhere with no frills, so I'll be on the hunt for a new gym now!

Off to work x

Today has been one of the gloomiest wet days we've had for a while.
Stayed in most of the day before deciding to head out to stock up on some warm winter wear, after the rain finally settled down.

All wrapped up today...

Shorts: Zara / Top: H&M / Jumper: Hollister / Boots: New Look / Snood: French Connection / Beanie: New Look

Kept it plain and simple today, some days I just can't be bothered to accessorize!

Today's shopping trip had been quite quick and efficient - I was pretty focused and spent no more than half an hour in each shop!
Got a couple more warm jumpers and jersey dresses from Forever 21 and H&M - the places where I get most of my bargain buys.
Happily made my way home on the tube nibbling away like a bunny on my salmon onigiri - an omnivorous bunny that is.

Well, apparently today is the last day in 2012 that'll be light (12h03m09s) for longer than it's dark.
S.A.D lamps at the ready, London...

For those dreading the miserable rain, maybe this link:
might cheer you up!

Time to catch up on the latest episode of America's Next Top Model: College Edition.
As much as I find the series getting more annoying with each passing year...I still find some amusement watching it.

Keep warm, and for those lucky enough to have some company in bed, snuggle up tight!

This weekend Mike and I drove to Cambridge for a quick day trip to make most of the sunny (but rather chilly) weather. Being such a pedestrian-ized city, we spent almost half an hour circling the city looking for parking!

I really wanted to try punting along the river so we booked in with one of the many students advertising their services - we got a bargain of 20 pounds for both of us 'students'!
Though we did have to wait a couple of hours so we just wandered round the centre and stopped for coffee at a cafe.

It's such a pretty city with lots of greenery and quaint little shops...I'll let the pictures do most of the talking x

Some of the many bicycles that lined the city!
Posh vintage wedding car!
Tight-rope walking violinist!
Coffee at a quaint little cafe - I love coffee served in cute mugs!
Mikey almost got swindled by 10 pence ha!
Punting along the River Cam
Pretty walls
The Mathematical Bridge

It was getting quite nippy towards the evening so we headed home to get warm and fill our hungry tummies.
Note: parking is really expensive in the city - it's no wonder so many people ride bicycles.

Shame Sunday was a bit of a rubbish day with all the rain.
I've got my warm jumpers and brolly ready to brave the cold wet weather!

Snuggled up under my duvet cover with a mug of hot chocolate watching the dashing (late) Patrick Swayze star in Ghost on TV - bliss x

Have a great week everyone x
